Description:

The Chief Claims Officer is responsible for the overall management and direction of Kinsale's claims department. This position works closely with the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Team to implement strategic direction for the claims operation that supports the overall direction of the company. This position is responsible for delivering operational excellence and continuous improvement in a collaborative and supportive environment. All claims related matters, including the analysis, development, and execution of claims strategies fall within this role's responsibilities. Solid administration skills are expected from all executives at Kinsale. As a member of the Executive Team, this role is responsible for playing an active role in hiring and retaining top talent as well as ongoing development of our professional staff. The Chief Claims Officer will be called upon to interact with Kinsale's board of directors and all levels of the organization, utilizing superior oral and written communication skills.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree is required
  • Advanced degree and/or law license preferred
  • Extensive claims experience with a specialty carrier handling a wide variety of complex commercial property and casualty claims, including the ability to identify issues and trends and take appropriate action
  • Superior technical skills with an emphasis on litigation management, strategic thinking, reserving, coverage analysis, conflict resolution, and expense management
  • Exceptional administrative capability and proven ability to lead, hire, retain, and develop claims professionals, creating a positive work environment by encouraging shared learning and open communication
  • Ability to think strategically coupled with superior operational skills to drive technology and process improvement
  • Strong work ethic and high level of integrity and dependability
  • Experience working with internal and external auditors
  • Experience working with reinsurance companies
